THIN FILM CdTe OUTPERFORMS CRYSTALLINE MODULES ON BOTH CLOUDY DAYS PLUS EXTREME LOW AND HIGH TEMPERATURE DAYS, WHICH IS WHY MANY GIGA WATT SOLAR FARMS IN THE SOUTH WEST AND CANADA USE MILLIONS OF THIN FILM MODULES INSTEAD OF CRYSTALLINE. 
  •  CdTe THIN FILM MODULES ARE NOT ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY PARTIAL SHADING LIKE WITH CRYSTALLINE MODULES.  WITH CdTe MODULES PARTIAL PANEL SHADING ONLY REDUCES POWER OUTPUT BY ESTIMATED 10%, WHILE ON ALL CRYSTALLINE (POLY OR MOLLY) MODULES EXPECT 50% LOSS OF POWER OUTPUT DURING TIMES OF SHADING.

OUR THIN FILM ADVANTAGES YOU SHOULD LEARN ABOUT:

  • HIGH CONVERSION EFFICIENCY:  Cadmium Telluride is a semiconductor compound with high absorption coefficient, 100 times higher than silicon.  Energy gap width of cadmium telluride is more suitable for photovoltaic energy conversion than silicon on the ground.  The 1% thickness of cadmium telluride comparing with silicon material can absorb the same amount of light.  Till now, the world record of cadmium telluride thin film conversion efficiency had reached 18.7% in the laboratory.  Our CdTe thin film solar module with dimension of  1200mm x 600mm reaches 12.03% conversion efficiency with 79.54W rated output in high production volume, now certified by U/L at rating of 85W. 
  • LOW TEMPERATURE COEFFICIENT:  The temperature coefficient of our CdTe thin film solar module is only about -0.21%/C as the traditional crystalline silicon solar module temperature coefficient reaches to -048%/ºC.  For most of high solar irradiance region, the temperature of solar module could be higher than 50ºC.  Thus this will greatly affect the photoelectric conversion efficiency of crystalline silicon solar products.
  • EXCELLENT LOW-LIGHT EFFECT:  Cadmium telluride is a direct-band-gap material with high absorption of full spectrum.  Under lower-light condition, like early in the morning, dusk and diffuse light, the power generation of CdTe thin film solar modules is better than the crystalline silicon solar module which is made by indirect band gap material.
  • GOOD STABILITY:  No intrinsic light-induced attenuation effects.
  • SHORT ENERGY PAYBACK PERIOD:  The energy payback period of our CdTe thin film solar module is often less than half of the crystalline silicon solar module.
  • ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION:  Scientists in Brookhaven National Laboratory (USA) systematically studied the heavy metal emissions frm renewable energy, such as crystalline silicon solar cell, CdTe thin film solar cell, and traditional energy, such as coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear energy.  In the analysis of solar cell, the full life-cycle process was considered including the original processing of ores required for the solar cell materials, the production and use of solar cells, etc..  The study results show that the highest cadmium emission is oil which achieves 44.3g/GWh, the second highest is coal about 3.7g/GWh.  The cadmium emission of CdTe thin film solar module is only 0.3g/GWh as same as natural gas.  Based on extensive experimental data proving that CdTe solar product is environment-friendly, the EU exempted CdTe modules for RoHs requirements in 2011.  By developing a recycling technology we are able to recycle used CdTe modules.
